FAMILY FUNERAL BENEFIT @ R35.00
    • Participation is compulsory for all permanent / temporary staff members of a registered employer, up to and including age 64 years
    • A family unit includes the Principal Member, Spouse and a maximum of 4 biological | legally adopted children. Full details must be supplied (e.g. name, surname, id number | date of birth, relationship to Principal Member
    • The Principal Insured must be actively employed for cover to commence and for the benefit to be paid out
    • The Staff Cover plan does not make provision for Extended Family members
    • The minimum size of an employer / company is 5 to qualify for the benefits of Staff Cover
    • The company must be a registered entity to qualify for the Staff Cover plan
    • WAITING PERIODS : The following waiting periods apply:
      • Natural Causes : Cover commences on the 1st of the month following receipt of the 1st premium
      • Unnatural Causes : Cover commences on the 1st of the month following receipt of the 1st premium
      • Suicide : a 24 calendar month waiting period applies
      • Reinstatement of a lapsed policy : a 3 calendar month waiting period applies
    • Cover stops on the earliest of:
      • Principal member turning 65 or going on Pension
      • Death of the Principal member
      • Non-payment of premiums
      • Termination of the Principal Insured’s employment
      • Cancellation of the scheme by the employer
    • There is an automatic escalation of the premium (10%) and benefit (10%) annually on the anniversary date of the scheme
    • 30 –DAY POLICY REVIEW PERIOD:
      • Where no claim has been instituted in terms of this Plan or where no right has accrued to you to institute a claim or receive any benefit in terms of the Plan, you may, within 30 (thirty) days of receipt of the policy documentation, cancel the policy by contacting AUI in writing and informing them of the cancellation;
      • All premiums paid during this 30-day review period shall be refunded by AUI, subject to the deduction of the cost of any cover actually enjoyed; - If you cancel the Plan after the 30-day cooling-off period, you will not get anything back as funeral insurance policies do not acquire any surrender or paid-up value.
    • PREMIUM PAYMENT:
      • Premiums are paid monthly in advance on or before the 7th of each month via employer debit order or EFT only
    • GRACE PERIOD:
      • The premium grace period does not apply to the payment of the first premium on inception of the Plan; After the first premium is paid, a grace period of 1 (one) month will be allowed for the payment of future premiums;
      • The Plan will remain in force for the grace period of one month; If premiums are not paid by the end of the grace period, the Plan will lapse.
    • PREMIUM REVIEW:
      • AUI reserves the right to do a premium review at any stage. Any adjustment in the premium will be communicated in writing with a 30 day notice period.
    • CANCELLATION:
      • Upon written cancellation of the scheme from either party, all AUI’s liabilities towards the Principal Insured and his/her nominated Dependents will cease as from the day of the last premium received or the date of dissolution, whichever is the later.
    • SURRENDER VALUES:
      • There are no surrender values under this Plan. Benefits under this Plan may not be ceded or pledged in any way. No loans are available under this Plan.

    • CLAIMS:

      • The following documentation will be required in order to process a claim:
        • AUI claim notification form;
        • Original or certified copy of the death certificate;
        • A certified copy of the deceased’s identity document;
        • A certified copy of the identity document of the person claiming the benefit; Where the deceased is the Spouse, a certified copy of the marriage certificate;
        • The principal member’s last payslip (month prior to date of death) showing the successful deduction of the premium;
        • Where the deceased is the Child, a certified copy of proof that the Child was the biological, stepchild or illegitimate Child of the Principal Insured;
        • A fully completed BI1663 form;
        • Where the deceased is a Child over age 21 and under the age of 25 and was a full- time student, a certificate, signed by the Principal of the Educational Institute the Child attended until date of death, stating that the Child was a full-time student;
        • Where the deceased is a Child over age 21 and was incapacitated by mental or physical infirmity from maintaining him/herself, a declaration signed by a Medical Practitioner setting out the nature of the infirmity of the Child from his 21st birthday until date of death
    • AMOUNT OF BENEFIT:
      • The benefit payable upon the death of a Member is limited to R10,000
    • EXCLUSIONS:
      • No claim will be admitted in terms of this Scheme if the event giving rise to the claim is caused directly or indirectly by or is in any way attributable to any of the following: -
        • The willing participation by the Member in any of the following:
        • any act of war (whether war is declared or not);
        • military action | riot | insurrection | civil commotion | martial law | terrorism;
        • Any act or deed by the Member deliberately committed in violation of criminal law.
    • FRAUD:
      • Any Policy accepted under this Scheme shall be void as from the Entry Date if:
        • Any claim under this Scheme is in any respect fraudulent; or
        • Any fraudulent means or devices are used or employed by the Principal Member or anyone acting on the Principal Member’s behalf, to obtain any benefit under this Scheme; or
        • Any event is occasioned by the wilful act of the Principal Member, or with the Principal Member’s connivance’ or should
        • AUI have been misled by the employer / Participating Group Scheme in any way whatsoever?
    • LAW AND CURRENCY:
      • This Scheme and any Policy issued shall be subject to the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Premiums and benefits payable under this Plan shall be paid in the Republic of South Africa and in South African Rands only.
    • NOTIFICATION
      • It is the duty of the employer to notify the employees that a funeral policy has been taken out for them
    • GENERAL:
      • Only nominated Members and Dependents will be considered at claim stage.
      • In a life-changing incident the Principal Member may change Family Members elected
